Founded in 2001 by Ayal Latz, the a2b Fulfillment vision began when Latz and his family invented a board game titled “Survival or Extinction – The Dinosaur Game,” in the mid-1990’s. The small toy company ran its own warehouse operation and witnessed the inefficiencies of doing so. “With our toy company, the majority of sales were going to cover fixed costs like warehousing and full-time employees,” says Latz. Numerous attempts at outsourcing these processes left the Latz family unsatisfied. “We simply weren’t getting good service, and having done the work ourselves, we knew we could do better.”
a2b began in Athens, GA, servicing a handful of small toy companies. In the first year the company operated out of a 4,000 square foot section of a larger warehouse with just two people. “Those early days taught us a lot about operational efficiency, best practices, retailer requirements, and how to leverage technology,” says Latz. In short order, the company branched-out beyond the toy industry and also began developing its direct-to-consumer model. “e-Commerce was in its infancy and each year as internet sales grew, we evolved with it.”
Today a2b specializes in full service campaign support; including Direct-to-Consumer Fulfillment, Retail Distribution, Customer Service, and specialized technology solutions that support commerce. a2b employs over 100 people and operates more than 400,000 square feet of warehouse and call center space in Greensboro and Eatonton, Ga; with additional warehousing capabilities in Toronto, Ontario.
